Artist and Sculptor in Glass
Captivated by the magical beauty and sculptural possibilities of glass, Peter specialises in glass sculpture whilst also painting in oils.
Born in London, initially scientifically trained, he established his art practice in 1993 using his technical skills and recent developments in glass technology, making innovative sculptures inaccessible by traditional techniques, and often over 2meters in hight. His sculpture are constructed from multiple chemically bonded layers of annealed &/or toughened sheet glass.
Peter gained his doctorate from Brunel Universary ,then developed his artistic skills at Sutton College of Liberal Arts. Elected a Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors in 1999, he was honoured as a Fellow in 2014. He was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists in 2010.
Newsome’s sculptures for both interior and exterior locations have been commissioned by celebrities, corporations, presented by royalty and feature in collections in three continents.
